Latin American & Latino/a Studies Training Goals

The LALS Program has four goals that are primary its pupils:

  • The arts and the social sciences to understand Latin America and Latinos in the United States through the lenses of literature.

  • Geographic ( e.g., nationwide, transborder/border studies, local)
  • Temporal ( ag e.g., pre-1825, 19th/20th century, contemporary)

The Minor in Latino/a Studies

The minor in Latino/a studies is comprised of six courses (24 credits) emphasizing key intellectual and methodological capabilities: experience of the shared, transnational records of Latin and Latino/a America; critical engagement with Spanish being a language of idea and social production; a provided, intellectual and interdisciplinary knowledge about a community of majors and minors into the system.

Required Core

  • One program into the past reputation for Latin America and/or the Caribbean
  • One humanities or social interaction program in Spanish (normally in the 200-level)
  • LAS 310: Capstone

All pupils should also finish three courses that are latino/a-focused fulfill these circulation demands:
